Vegetarians Need Not Apply

Since moving to New Minas the fellas at Valley Stove and Cycle and other locals have been acquainting me with some local traditions.  Riding the corn maze in November, local donair subs, and of course......the Canadian Burger from the Tin Pan in Port Williams.

I didn't give it much thought when Colin asked me if I had tried a Canadian Burger yet.  I thought 'what is so darn special about a burger?'.  Must be some special spices or something.  Bill mentioned something about it's size but I didn't really pay that much attention, must've been looking at a new toy that had just been delivered to the shop.

A few weeks had passed and I decided I'd try one of these burgers that has spoken of in local legend.  I phoned the day before and told Colin, 'Tomorrow is burger day! I'll be down for lunch.'  I arrived and the boys were looking forward to the feast. Colin called up and put the order in and told me that it would be ready for pick in 25-30 minutes.  This had to be some kind of burger to take that long to prepare.

We arrived at the Tin Pan located in Port Williams just past the bridge from Wolfville.  The burgers were on the grill and they were huge!!!  These burgers do not come with fries.  You don't need fries or anything else for about a week afterwards.  The burgers were finished and we brought them back to the shop.  We weighed the biggest one (offered to me of course!) and it came in at a grand weight of........672 grams.

Bill scoffed his down in record time as if it was finger food at a Christmas party.  I took a little longer but thoroughly enjoyed the behemoth of beef and toppings.  I didn't have supper that night, nor did I have a snack before bed.  I was good right up until breakfast the next day as a matter of fact.

Although I wouldn't say that it's the healthiest lunch I've ever had, it sure was tasty.  Now I have to go back to the Tin Pan and try their 24 ounce milkshake (that's right 24 ounces).....mmmmmmmm.

That burger is a BEAST. I did'nt even need breakfast the next day lol. The pattie was at least an inch and a half thick, and six inches round. If you a buger lover you owe it to yourself to try one of these bad boys!

I can HAZ!

I'm Irish, I love beer and it's St. Paddy's day. Is it a good or bad combination?

looks almost as good as a randy's donair poutine from hfx. something that would certainly slow you down to digest, and something i'd imagine wouldn't be on a heart smart menu.

Thats a lotta burger!

The thread title made me think of this pic and laugh....
