2010: The Year of the Trail

2010 is going to be a good year.   Two major initiatives have been launched in the past twelve months that are going to put trail building, maintenance and general awareness in the forefront of mountain bikers throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Gorefest Updates

Calling All Mountain Bikers!!!  I am organizing Gorefest again for 2010.  I wanted to start this blog to keep everyone up to date to the progress of this year's event. I'm working on a lot of cool stuff to keep everyone going  for the whole weekend!

2010 Trail Builder of the Month Awards

Last year the Trailblazer/Cogeyed Builder of the Month Awards were a great success.  This year we've made it better!!  Trailblazer has generously donated six prizes this year!!  That means we're giving away a prize once a month for six months. (March 2010 - August 2010)

Times they are a changing!

There have been many changes over the past year with ECMTB/Cogeyed.   We have changed names, changed our look, and changed some personel during this time.

Ice Races Return

The ice race series is returning for 2010.  There will be 4 races with the first being held on Silver Lake in the valley.  So get your tires studded, and your warm clothes on.  Here's more info (sorry I couldn't get the image to copy!):

Friday Nights All Right for Riding

In high school Friday nights used to be the highlight of my week. I was doing well in school, had a great part time job, and had no real worries. I also had just bought my first real mountain bike and bike light and was discovering what riding was all about.

Sportwheels is proud to sponsor...

Chris Sanford is an avid cyclist whom has been riding since the age of five. Chris has been using his Norco Katmandu faithfully for all his riding up until now. For 2010 he will be riding a 2008 Norco Fluid and wearing the Sportwheels colours in the under 15 category.

The Winter Ride

I don't want to change into my winter riding gear. I don't want to get cold; I'd rather stay inside and watch a movie. But I drag my butt to the bedroom and put on my cycling tights and put on my layers. I locate my gloves and hat and helmet. I arrive at the trailhead and begrudgingly get out of my car to take the bike off of the roof and put the light on my helmet and put my gloves on. I'm still not convinced I want to be here. It's bloody cold out here!

Vegetarians Need Not Apply

Since moving to New Minas the fellas at Valley Stove and Cycle and other locals have been acquainting me with some local traditions.  Riding the corn maze in November, local donair subs, and of course......the Canadian Burger from the Tin Pan in Port Williams.

Happy Holidays!!

Cogeyed wishes everyone a safe and happy holidays from our families to yours and hope that 2010 will bring more rides, more trails and most importantly more memories to share!!   We’d especially like to extend a special holiday wish to those who have helped us out in the past year.
