only three dh races Is this the final schedle
2010 BNS Race Calendar
Feel free to organize a few more -- I'll be happy to add 'em!
XC and Road look TIGHT. Jamie, thanks for getting this done in plenty of time for people to plan their seasons. No conflicts between road and mtn are going to make for a stellar season. But what about cyclocross? (joking)
I was thinking about doing a 2nd Gorge DH........the negative talk kinda made me 2nd guess that one. I'll wait and see what the attendance is like for the 1st one, and I might go for a 2nd DH at the Gorge if I can find a date that works for me, and jives with the BNS schedule.
Connor had mentioned a possible 2nd race at Wentworth too. 5 races would be legit.
Why did you pull Middleton??
For the reason we discussed............Impossible Shuttle situation: The bottom of the hill is all clay. If it rains ant any point during a race weekend the shuttle is done. We got so lucky last year, the hill was dusty, and after 30 minuts of rain the trucks were unable to get up the hill. Fortunately that was lunchtime Sunday and not a few hours early.....or worse.......Saturday. I have no interest in putting huge hours into a shuttle road that wont work if it rains. Its too bad as its a good course, but I'm willing to sacrifice the time or $$$$ on such a risky proposition.

Get people to bring up a four wheelers instead of big heavy pick up trucks
Would be a good idea I know some guys with big trailers and I have a quad and some other people you guys no would be probly willing to do it,
Interesting - this could be a good idea, as long as people were willing to help Dave organize and prepare the trail for the race.
im guessing those dh dates are also in line with the NB dates that will most likely be at crabb and campbelton making 5 races already unless it will be seperate points? mabey 6 if theres some god given miracle and we can race at hillsbourogh
Theres no way you could get 5 riders and bikes up that hill on a quad. The 2nd half is steep as fuck. Its a tough pill for me to swallow due to the amount of work Ryan and put into that course, but I just can't justify it this year.......each trip for me is an hour of driving, the shuttle situation is not good, and the course still needs lots of work. Not to mention we didn't have great attendance......30 riders on race day, and there was some moaning about the size of the hill. Some times I think people expect MSA or Whistler when they come to NS races......pisses me off.
All my time saved from not doing a Middleton race is going to alow me to travel to Quebec to race twice, and maybe NB a couple times........and spend more time with my family. This works better for me. The Gorge is 2 minutes down the road for me, the DH and XC course need no real work......just tweaking. Makes it easier to host races.........easier is better at this point.
Sounds good Dave. It would actually be great to coordinate events between NS and NB. Can someone provide us with the dates to Crabbe and Campbellton so we can prepare to attend (eg permission from families and work).
I don't know when Velo NB had their dates confirmed last year but I'm pretty sure it wasn't anywhere near March 22nd, which would lead to the 'coordinating' problem. It seems every year someone somewhere says this should happen, and when the obvious is pointed out, they will do it despite the negativity or something to that effect. Its funny because its usually someone in NB who doesn't understand why we cant work together. Cay sara sara. Anyway, go for it.
Ahhh. Bummer, I was just organizing the events I want to do this summer, and I have three conflicts.

Ahhhhhh mmmaaaannnn! I so wanted to do the CSSC. This is gonna be a tough call.
Dave I beg to differ on your quad coment I have seen some pretty big trailers towing big loads around here. And that guy lends out that trail could hold a bunch. Just sayen I understand where your coming from though
I figure we should try it sometime early this year and see if is a possibly.
I agree dave, We put hard work into that hill especialy you guys and it is such a good hill. Yeah we heard some moans and groans from people but you always will. If they really have a problem tell us what need to be done to make it better. It would just be nice if more people showed up to the middleton race. The only thing I feel the course needs is more stuff after the table and rock garden then it would be super sick and not just pedal and berm at the bottom.
Sorry for thread jacking
We tried halling a trailer up with Nicks Chev with the mega tires, locking diffs, and lift...........no dice. Thats when it was dry. Carrying people on a trailer behind a quad going up mega steep rocky terrain seems like a serious safety issue.
ya - you'd have to run the race as a total covert op if you were to do that. I think the truck shuttling action is a minor concern for insurance people... think about quads.. that'd be fun though!
Yeah I'd have to side with the nizzz. No insurance company would protect you if you used a quad for shuttling.
Not sure if this got lost in the topic or just wasent mentioned but a quad hauling a trailer with should/head high planks=bad?

I'm working on a nice PDF, but don't have it done yet and am still waiting on some more contact info for a few races. It'll be prettier later. But for now:
