Crazy roadies

Being from the fat tire family, I don't always understand our roadie brethren. For instance, I enjoy watching Tour de France coverage and highlights, even though I don't always grasp the tactics involved.

This however, I'm not sure I'd ever understand.

I love Track cycling! the only similaritiy to that and Road cycling is the shape of the bike, they are very different species!

Not ever understand? Phil (the commentator) explains almost everything, except pointing out that the other reason you want to start from behind (first was surprise) it to draft off the front rider, saving energy, so that you can sprint around them at the last minute.

I love watching track on youtube, and that one really did lay out the concept. I love how huge the German guy was... how they don't snap the bikes in two I don't know!
