Hero trails are upon us.....

.....in the HRM area. Get out and enjoy them before the snow covers them. Was out today in the Spider trails and they are incredibly fast and flowy with a light snow cover on top to fill all the nooks and crannies. The best trail to ride seemed to be Skull with a noticeable tailwind on the way out. Tis the season, Happy riding. :)

whopper was awesome today, bit of ice on the top where its usually wet, but once past that, it was devastatingly fast!

Did lab pass, keddy con backwards, up the pole line, through dacota, back through suzie Q and out. It was all perfect and I wish I could go ride it again!

that's lakota eric...

Probably one of the best rides all year today.

hahaha oops... :o

Probably my last ride of the year and what a day for it.

Spider trails were awesome, nice to hear the crunch of light snow and ice under the tires, and with all the trees cut down there was an amazing view of the sun setting as I headed out.  Rode down spider lake road to the car indeed feeling like a hero..

Real shame what appears to have happened to the ribbon though - days like today are the only way thats going to be rideable without a serious amount of work.

Back in the new year and looking forward to getting the studs out.

We've got our hero dirt here in B.C too!  We went out a few days ago and slyaed some xc climbs then some sweet downhill action.  Was some killer drifting on the way down the mountain!

The warmer temps, rain and melting snow put a damper (hyuk-hyuk!) on whatever nice conditions were at whopper.  Hopefully it'll stay warm enough for more snow and water to clear before it freezes up again!

It's a great trail system but there seem to be way too many areas where standing water is able to collect.  I've been thinking of going in specifically to armor some sections and create more drainage areas, probably in the spring.  Last spring/summer I tried more than a few times to do the "lake loop" trails and had to turn back because the puddles and mud were killing the flow.

I miss biking. I think this past weekend was the first time we didn't get out for a ride of some sort.  I miss biking ... oh, sorry, I said that already. :(

old man winter will be returning this thursday. with a couple days of minus something weather, the hero conditions will be back. hopefully this weekend we'll be ripping it up again. if not, hopefully the rain uncovered the rocks by the next spot we got to armor up.

bundle up and be a hero

Made it in today after a shin-numbing ride over.  There's way more ice than a few days ago, but it seemed to be mostly on the higher exposed parts - dirt was at 100% hero mode.  I was having some fun for awhile but managed to get tangled up with a loose branch and off went my rear derailleur, ripping the mounting bolt right out and taking the threading on the frame with it.  It's kinda sad to see it go that way as aside from needing to adjust it every once in awhile it had worked very well for being the cheapest Shimano unit around (AFAIK).  Seriously - slamming through rock gardens, 2-3 foot drops, etc, and never a problem, which makes me really wonder how people complain about this particular model breaking so easily.  Anyway, at this point I think the whole bike is ready for the scrap yard as the forks were already starting to go (non-replaceable bushings getting ovalized) and being a Crappy Tire bike it doesn't feel worth the repairs/upgrades considering it was only $200 to begin with.
