Rock Fox hybrid fork!

The stanchions on my Talas were gouged pretty badly and I had access to a parts Pike. So we built this up tonight.. Used the lowers From my Fox with the uppers and internals out of a coil Pike U-Turn.

The stanchions were the same length on both forks. The Pike crown is a bit taller then the Fox crown but should prove to be stiffer. I was hoping to use my Fox carts. but the threads on the top caps were a bit larger then on the pike crown.

I may see about modifying the Talas cart to use in place of the U-turn but not sure. Will ride it as is for now.

If the ladies don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Those are some messed up looking rotors you got there.  It doesn't seem to be very much surface.

haha sweet dude!

Stanchions are the same length, so the overlap should be the same.

^ ^ yep.  Plenty over overlap, especially as I'll be running it wound down to low the all the time. Now if I had planned on running this at full travel there may be cause for concern as the Fox lowers are a little bit shorter then the Pikes, so the bushing would sit a bit lower. But seeing as there is a good chance I'd rip my head tube off if I ran the fork at 140 I'd be more worried about that then the minimal over lap.

Bushing fit is nice and snug, no play.

some wonky shit right there.............usuall pepperjester style.

...not sure what happened to my last post here but yes Dave, it was built in true PepperJester style.

Took it for a test ride to day, rode some trail, dozen or so laps at the pump track and a few gaps at the dirt jumps.   Rides good, it really stiffens up the front end. The old Fox crown was a noodle so this is a nice upgrade. So far I'm liking the Rock Shox internals too.
