I wouldn't worry about it too much Jamie. I figure that the low maintenance nature of the ride days will likely end up meaning we get a few on the last minute etc. Where they are club events, let the clubs publish the details and dates as they see fit.
What are the dates for the Nova Scotia DH ride days?
Yo V0, Wentworth ride days are as follows. June 5/6, Sept 11/12 and Oct 30/31. Look forward to a race June 6 and possibly a costume fun race Oct 31.
Alright 09, I won't wait around to include ride day dates, but I'll at least put the Wentworth weekends on as with only 3 races the DH column of the poster looks kinda sparse.
List'em if we got'em!

Atlantic Champs? WTF? according to whom?
Calling yourself atlantic champs without consulting other organisers first is gonna cause a lot of friction. There is a groupe of us who have been working towards this for a long time and maby it would have been wise to do some reasearch or ask a few other people before making a rather large assumption such as "oh, we can just arbitrairly decide that our race is the champs." I think Wentworth is the atlantic champs this season, and Crabb is next year. The Vally boys and Keppoch have both been putting races on far longer and more regular so perhaps they would like a shot at it as well. Aug 28/29 Campbellton race. Not Atlantic Champs.
lol we're gona host the world champs at whopper this year!
Is Crabb going to have a race this year.
I think the mountain bike committees of the provincial associations are supposed to decide where the atlantic champs. are. They are supposed to circulate around the three provinces, though maybe for DH it's just between NB and NS. Where were they last year?
Last year there wasn't an official 'Atlantic Championship' or rather, if there was BNS didn't sanction / endorse it.
There has not been an atlantic champs in a long time. A group of us have been working towards it but have been slowed by the differences in catagories. That is one of the reasons we have switched to the a b c f style of catagories. Now the provinces line up so overall points can be tabulated and we can have a true Atlantic series. Check out nsnb.com to see what we have been working on for a few years now.

they were held at sugarloaf, by what the posters said. all kinds of prizes, multi course, and they even gave away a chevy truck.
Nope, that was a fest. The truck give away was a compleat crock. I was there. There was no way anyone was walking away with a truck from that event. They can't claim to be atlantic champs without consulting the respective provinces.
I totally understand (and agree) with your comments.
Please do not shoot the messenger, as this is what Sugarloaf has and continues to label the race. For example, here is the 2009 info;

well so they did the snarky bastards. Im just waiting for someone from sugarloaf to comment on there claims. I still stand by they can't host the Atlantic chapms on account of not contacting the other provinces.
Uhhh, That truck was a rip off.... I should have kept my money!
LOL

How about instead of waiting around for a Sugarloaf rep to come on the forums. You try to contacting via... wait for it.....A TELEPHONE!!!
All this bitching and complaining and everyone stretching their e-penis'... If your that pissed off get the eff off of the forums and contact said individuals via better means.
wooooooo wooooo wooooo.
simma down. Conor calls it as he sees it, and would say it just like that face to face or on the phone. So the E-penis thing is un-called for.
This is a thread about DH events so is the most influential dude in Maritime DH racing (your welcome Conor) just supposed to keep his E-mouth shut????? Doubt er.
Fo the record I completely aggree with Mr Stallion. Just deciding on your own that your race is Atlantic Champs is pretty lame.
On a seperate note..........Are the 2nd DH weekends at Wentworth and Keppoch going to involve a race on Sunday?????? I think its a great plan! Boost the series up to 5 races. Maybe one of those races can be Atlantic champs.

Good points and excuse me for maybe being alittle over the top.
I just think it would be much simpler dealing with Sugarloafs' race organizer(s) over the phone or in person instead of an internet forum. Sure maybe its wrong on the organizers' part just to assume his race is the atlantic championships, instead of crucifying him over the internetz, talk it over like human beings and figure it out.
First, Thank you Mr. Biff. Im flattered. As for the other Wentworth weekends, I will see how the race/ride sunday goes in June and if it goes well then I think we can look forward to another dh race.
I enjoy streaching my E-penis from time to time. However, I make myself pretty contactable by posting up my email and phone number on a reguar basis and I have not yet seen either for the sugarloaf boys nor do i know who they are. That being said, I will take a read through one of the sugarloaf forums and see if i can locate the correct individual. I just find it increadably arrogant that someone would presume to call their race the Atlantic Champianships without consulting the other organisers. Im all for an Champs but it has to be done in an organised fashion. Bidding process/rotating basis, something.
If anyone needs to contact me regarding my comments i can be reached at conor.scallion@gmail.com
Well, no one has yet stepped forward to take responsability for the Atlantic Chapms claim. I have looked through the fourms and can't sort out who would be the right person to talk with. Perhaps someone could inform me?
are they organizing anything else besides the "atlantics"
maybe a velo NB contact would O9 has a bunch of those
We at the Kepppoch hope (tentative) to host a Sunday Race in Sept. Shuttle day Sat, race Sunday. Giver
Keppoch Jeff
Trails are mint right now, berm building to continue..
The "Atlantic Championships", unlike the Provincial Championships, have no official status. Anybody can say that they are hosting the Atlantics. One organizer can hold the Super Cool Turbo Injected Atlantics from Hell and another could hold the Eyes the Bye Who Holds the Atlantic Championships.
There has, over the past 20 years, been an informal agreement between the Maritime Provinces that each year a specific event would be deemed "Atlantic Championships". The various provincial VP MTB's usually, after consultation with the BNS MTB Committee and after taking offers from various organizers, contact each other and settle on an event.
At one point it was set up in a way that it would rotate through the various four provinces year after year, but the sequence was probably broken after one province or other didn't bother taking advantage of 'their turn'.

I had almost finished a nice pdf calendar poster when I realized I forgot to include the DH ride days underneath the races.
What are the dates going to be for the various Wentworth and Keppoch weekends players have been talking about? I don't need any more details than that--as there is a disclaimer to see the BNS web site for more info, which you can supply later just like regular races--I just need solid dates.
Thanks dudes.
