Any info on logging?

If anyone has any info on the logging operation at Spider Lake please post up!

CK said that one of the loggers mentioned they'd be logging from the highway to the grassy knoll. This isn't confirmed. CK is looking for more information. Thanks CK! We know you're off to greener pastures, but we appreciate you help.

Was out today, and they've made it to the ATV trail. Due to the new exposure, I had to clear some deadfall that was at about thigh height. You can hear traffic very clearly now from the grassy knoll.

They had made a lot of "progress" between Wednesday and Sunday, like a scary amount

Trying to post in the right place ;)

what's the word on the loggers? how close are they now?

any pictures? anything get fubared beyond repair?

we went for a walk today. they've logged a section right up to the edge of the rep loop. but they didn't cross the trail. it's like they were using the rep loop as boundary. it seemed the logger was actually quite careful no to disturb the trail. the scene has left me cautiously optimistic.

i have a few photos i'll post in the gallery

thanx, for the update, i haven't been up there since the first day the tree fellers arrived. have to check it out for myself this week end.

I tried to post from the trail, but Opera mini ate my post.

They've now crossed the rep loop, and the loop that starts at the trail head, and have also crossed the main road. Where they crossed the main road, they're going 200-300 feet further, as per the guy running the processor. We was out of machine having a smoke break on the main road.

I have photos and video. Will post as soon as I actually look at them.

3 videos are up

not much to add as far as the loggers progress. if you look at how they are cutting it sure looks a lot like they are cutting fairways for a golf course. it's great that the guys cutting are trying to leave the trails as damage free as they can so that we can continue to use them. but if you look at what they have cut so far and what trails they are beside or crossed over you can see we are going to loose the rep loop access up the main road and access from the pipeline as well.  nothing has been encrouched on the side of the hill yet but seeing how far they have moved in on some other areas not holding as much hope as i was last week.

all we can do is wait and see unfortunately......

about 2/3 to 1/2 of the rep loop is clear cut

 as of sunday evening :

closer to 2/3 of rep loop is cleared now. fortunately they left trees along the trail at the descent/climb at the far end of the trail. they have also cleared up to the atv trail off the main trail that leads to the ribbon. and they are running parallel to the piece of singletrack that connects the main trail/ribbon to the bottom of the six pack.

get out and ride there as it seems they are on the cusp of moving into the area  with the new trails...

tonight they were logging at the bottom of the hill the the Traverse crosses.

it's pretty weird riding rep loop with the trees. it reminded me of the powerlines when they cleared the brush underneath them a few years ago.
