Spider in jeopardy?

i know it doesn't have anything to do with actual trail 'building' but rather trail 'destroying' which means that we'll be trail 'fixing'. i just got an email from one of the local ride groups that said essentially (i'm going from memory) "Even though we are expecting a lot of rain this week, we ride anyway, meet us at the trail head of Spider". i flipped an email back saying i didn't think it was a good idea, but giving y'all a heads up that if they choose not to listen, our flowy Spider might be a pile of ruts.

They have 20 members go out for their rides, most of them novices. :(

i would be interested in who this group is so that some sort of communication could be opened with them to discuss the potential damage they are causing and some viable options they have if they feel that strongly about riding. there are plenty of wet weather options out there for frakin sakes.

Can i post this?....i'm not private forum savvy. If not. OOPS. My humblest apologies O Manager.

It's one of the girls group. Nine of them went out last Thursday. Yup. The same week we rode Shubie so that we wouldn't cause any harm. i'm glad they are learning how to ride, but they aren't learning how to do so responsibly if they plan on going out to the softest trail in Metro during a week of rain. Last week was really really wet. i'm waiting for them to respond to my email. Spoke w/ the Boyz about it, and we have discussed the approach i should take which is more educational then aggressive, even though the leader should know better than that. Otherwise, we were gonna let you and KMan know the time the ride starts and let you have at'em. 0=)

elleDee...

This is a fine place for these postings.  Thanks for the notification.  It's been my experience that this sort of thing usually comes from innocent ignorance.  Let's hope they are easy to come around.

No response yet. i have a draft message in my outlook waiting....tick tock

i perhaps see a chance to take some of that passion for riding and turn it into something positive. if someone is that much of a keener then with some proper info i would hope to see them move forward in a more progressive manner. just remember that knowledge is power but how it is presented is at times the deciding factor.

Anything ever come of this?

heard a rumor last night that they were now taking weather and trail conditions into account before choosing were to ride. hats of to Lola for speaking up about this.

Well done Lola... no doubt she was very diplomatic too. That's the way it's done folks.
