been out to the spider and have done some of the first work of the year. things are looking up for the spider if our friends the loggers just stay away we might get some of the trails back near their former glory. regardless it was good to get out and have a more positive vibe for the trail system. this year it will probably be more about fixing some of the damage up then tearing into anything new, time will tell.
when anti social ain't social enough
well it has been a while since i have posted any thing in the bastards group no question about that. sometimes life just reaches out and give you a hard shove of course and this was certainly one of those times. it been a slow journey to get back to a point were i feel like getting involved in a more social setting and for that i have some close friends in the cycling community which have lent a hand or more often an ear. and so that in turns brings us around to todays topic. as much as i like to joke about the whole anti social thing it is really the social side of cycling that makes this passion for the bike thing so cool. so to make a long story short summers coming the sun is out and it's time to ride have the odd beverage and tell the odd tale.
Nice seeing you Saturday... even if it was only in passing!
indeed, looked like you had your hands full with that crowd. the day did not start out all that good i broke the handle on my brand new pick trying to finish the corner down in the rep loop and ended up having to leave a big nasty root sticking out. but things got better once i went back to the car i grabbed the bike. just put my head down and road for a while. by the time the day was done and i was heading out i was done to and ready to head home in search of cold beverages.
hell yeah the root is gone and as revenge for breaking my pick spin and i took out all his sisters and brothers. we have managed in a few nights hard work to put a big dent in the early section of the rep loop. looking at it now it reminds me of winter all smooth and fast like. wish we could buff the whole damm trail but that just ain't going to happen. but still i am liking the direction we are going this year and hope that we can get the spider back to a better state than we found it last year after the clear cut.
all quite on the eastern front as summer rolls into the region. keep your head down your mouth shut and avoid all eye contact if at all possible. there will be time enough for being social when gorefest comes knocking.
You lads are doing great work over there. I've only been in for a hike or two with some loppers - no riding for a while in there the last while.
You? Social? How many sociables does that take?!
Where's my rollercoaster?

man me and my big mouth. summers coming eh? not just yet snow on the ground flurries in the forcast that is just not cool. well a little patience and the sun will be back. the riding has been really good up till the snow so hopefully that will not have to great of an effect on things. if nothing else it will be good to get back out and do a little trail work and throw some dirt around till th ground drys back up.
