Wow. Sweet maps . Makes me want to get over there and ride.
The Range
Its a hill is only 100 meters high but will make you work in the climbs I know of 3 ways up all ride able none of them easy.
The pay off is worth it.
There are 6 main runs down the hill with some inter connecting trails to from some small loops with out going to base of the hill. On that hill is also the Doggy Dh In that area are the Jacks lake trails at Sandy lake you can ride to or from them on power line roads and water line roads.

Nice, It's a couple of years since I've been in there, once i get my new bike built this may be the 1st trail i hit.
So i take it the jacks lake stunt trail is dead,Can't wait to check out some of the DH stuff on this trail.
Ya, Jack's has been dead since Juan more or less. There are a few good places to get some gravity going in the maritimes now. Valley has some good stuff (links, gorge, p2, ward, middleton)...
DoggyDH is fun - a bit limited if it's a main haunt, but it's there - and lots of downhilly lines. No need for a big bike though.
what is it, porcipine ridge to hog's back? definatly a sweet run. the climb up the atv track is murder. pretty fun place.
Hmm .. whichever comes out and down the ridge winding and hilly. Fun. Very excite.
Sounds like some fun runs in there.
No big bikes being built this time, and No FS...Cromo HT this time around.
I did a few laps of 'Dirty Bomb' and 'Sidewinder' the other day. Looking at the map now I realize why I kept going in circles! Regardless it was some fun! It's a longer drive from my house in Lake Echo than I expected, but I should be riding there more.
The downhills are wicked fun and the uphills are great training, and fun themselves. It actually reminds me a bit of Claudie in Fredericton if anyone has ever done both. Randylahey maybe?
The intermediate rating is appropriate for the trails I saw, granted less than half of the whole set. Beginners would struggle.
I've certainly done both and enjoyed both sets of trails. I'm partial to the range only because I've put some time into building them under the guidance of Spin of course.
I was just wondering if anyone noticed the similarity.
From what I remember about Claudie, both would have similar terrain for sure.
you could probably hold races there, both x/c and d/h. i'm surprised no one has yet. it has a few choices of climbs and many choices of descents. definatly a fun place.
Is there any place to park other than off the highway?
not that i'm aware of.... not a goot idea for children let alone adults
plus I assume you would need land owner permission and I beleive the land is atleast partially owned by DND
you can park by the mall and ball fields and use the tunnel under the highway to get there.
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3298478 is the way that ips speaks of.
There is a cool bottom section as well that you can see at left-of-centre in the first photo. I've been thinking about a quick exit/entrance there, mainly to avoid the climb at the side of the highway. It's quite close to the range fence line.
Not ideal for a race I don't think, but I'm sure if someone were motivated they could pull something off. Stranger things have been done!
I think you'd need permission from the condo/apartment owners at the end of River Lane to run any amount of traffic through there. I always carry my bike over the curb and grass before it crosses the small stream, I don't want leave any marks and have a magical barrier to appear there.
To do a race, I definately think that you'd want to have an entrance that avoided riding along the highway.
You could park down on Hammonds Plains Rd and come up the dirt road.....
Just did the Range and the Jeeps and erosion have taken a toll on the uphill. The climb was brutal.
Also the entrance was almost non existent. The markers were way off trail and ended doubling back up the Neutron Bomb.
Fun run down, but your body really pays the price this time of year on the uphill.

Nicely done!
You know I've never been to this one before? I hope to hit it up soon.
